Earlier Podcast / Rode audio recovery
Please send every Rode recording from both microphones.
Do not try to decide which clips are important. We need the complete original audio from transmitter 1 and transmitter 2. If you are unsure, send everything and we will sort it.
Do not delete, rename, edit, convert, normalize, or compress anything on the Rode devices. Copy or export the recordings first. Keep the originals on the devices until Rick confirms the files arrived.
First, identify the kit
Which Rode system is in front of you?
Choose the description that matches the equipment. The connection steps are different.
Choose this if: the kit says Wireless PRO and has a smart charge case that holds two small transmitters and one receiver.
- 01Use a Windows or Mac computer.
Plug the computer into power. Use reliable Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Do not try this from a phone.
- 02Place both transmitters and the receiver in the Wireless PRO charge case.
Close them into their normal charging positions.
- 03Connect the charge case directly to the computer.
Use the included SuperSpeed USB-C cable if available. Avoid a USB hub. A charge-only cable will not show the recordings.
- 04Open File Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac.
Look under This PC or Locations for the Rode transmitters. There should be a separate removable device for each transmitter.
- 05Copy every WAV file from the first transmitter.
Create a normal folder on the computer named Earlier Podcast - TX1. Copy all WAV files into it. Do not move or delete the originals.
- 06Repeat for the second transmitter.
Create Earlier Podcast - TX2 and copy every WAV file from the second transmitter.
- 07If the drives do not appear, open Rode Central.
Select each transmitter from the left side, select all recordings, and export them as WAV files. Repeat for both transmitters.
Choose this if: the kit says Wireless GO II. Its charging case cannot transfer recordings.
- 01Use a Windows or Mac computer.
Install and open the desktop version of Rode Central. The phone version is not the right tool for exporting these recordings.
- 02Remove transmitter 1 from the charging case.
Connect that transmitter directly to the computer with a USB-C data cable. Do not connect through the charging case or a USB hub.
- 03Select Wireless GO II TX in Rode Central.
Open its recordings. Select all recordings from the Earlier Podcast shoot. If you cannot identify the date, select everything.
- 04Export the recordings as WAV files.
Save them to a folder named Earlier Podcast - TX1. Do not normalize, trim, rename, or convert them to MP3.
- 05Disconnect transmitter 1 and connect transmitter 2.
Repeat the same process and save all recordings in Earlier Podcast - TX2.
- 06Keep all recordings on both transmitters.
Do not erase either transmitter until Rick confirms that both sets were received and opened successfully.
